Long lines
- What is the material of the long dog line?
Our Trails & Paws long lines are made from high density polyester webbing with a PVC coating, which means they are waterproof, tough and long lasting.
- How long is the long dog line?
Our Trails & Paws long lines are available in 5m and 10m. We also have leads available in 1.2m.
- Is the long dog line durable?
Our long lines are made from high density polyester webbing with a PVC coating, which means they are tough and long lasting. They also have a swivel carabiner clip which attaches quickly and securely onto harnesses. The carabiner will rotate around as your dog moves to prevent the lead from twisting up.
- Can the long dog line be used for training purposes?
Yes, a long line is designed to support training, help with recall and to give you the added peace of mind to allow your dog to run free in a controlled environment. They are perfect for puppies, young dogs, reactive dogs and even those who just need a little training reminder from time to time! - What is the maximum tension the long dog line can withstand?
The Trails & Paws long lines have a resistance up to 358kg giving you peace of mind that they won’t snap even with the most enthusiastic pullers.
- Is the long dog line easy to clean?
Yes, our long lines are made with a PVC coating which means they don’t soak up water, dirt, or smells. They can be rinsed and wiped clean quickly and easily - any mud or dirt will simply wash away.
- Does the long dog line have a comfortable handle for the owner to hold?
The handle of our Trails & Paws long lines is made from high density polyester webbing with a PVC coating which is very comfortable to hold and won’t hurt your hand if it’s pulled through your fingers. More importantly it won’t get slippery when wet or muddy giving you added peace of mind that you won’t let go!
- Is the long dog line adjustable in length?
Our long lines can be made shorter by coiling into circles and threading the handle through the middle.
- Can the long dog line be used in water?
Yes, the Trails & Paws long lines are made with a PVC coating which means they are waterproof and can be used in water without experiencing any wear and tear. Always rinse after contact with sea water and sand, including the clip.
- What is the best length of long line?
This depends on what you plan on using the long line for.
Trails & Paws recommends 10m long lines for:
- Practicing recalls
- To give you more control whilst your dog is free-roaming
- For gundog training
Trails & Paws recommends 5m long lines for:
- Use with reactive dogs
- Owners who are getting to know their dog and would like additional peace of mind that they are close by whilst having some freedom to explore
- Training programmes such as desensitisation and counter conditioning and other behaviour modification techniques
